SYNOPSIS

Artist Janet Biehl travels to North-East Syria to discover how the ideas of her late partner, radical philosopher Murray Bookchin, have inspired a female-led political and social revolution. Through encounters with women building a grassroots communal democracy in the aftermath of ISIS, the film explores an ambitious experiment in self-government — and its uncertain future in a region under renewed threat.
