SYNOPSIS
The Sea cucumber is an animal we know little about. And yet it is the second most exported product from the South Pacific fishing industry. It is fished for and sold to Asian markets, where it is considered to be a luxury product. Demand has reached such levels that many countries in the Pacific have over-exploited this resource. The Pacific's Black Gold unveils the issues surrounding this strange animal from New Caledonia to Vanuatu, via Hong Kong and the Fiji Islands.
